On February, 23rd we celebrated the 100th day of preschool! We celebrated all week long by exploring and playing with the number 100! We began the week by each bringing a collection of 100 things to count and share with our friends. Ms. Kristen and Ms. Michelle hid 100 chocolate kisses around the school. Each time someone found one they had to match the number on the bottom of the kiss with the corresponding number on the giant hundred chart. It didn't take long for friends to find all 100! Throughout the week we did 100 exercises, wrote 100 words, and had circle time discussions like, "we wish we had 100_____" and "we could eat 100_______." The most popular answers were blueberries and carrots! What healthy kiddos we have at Desert Blossom! Friends created 100 day hats, glasses and necklaces to wear in honor of the special number. Kiddos raced to see how many times they could write their name in 100 seconds, how many licks it took to get to the center of a tootsie pop, painted 100 dots with q-tips and attempted to read 100 books! A kitty adoption fort was constructed during choice time and many adorable kittens found loving homes. But the most exciting addition to preschool during 100 week was the new loose parts in our outdoor space! Who knew we could have so much fun with tires, mats and containers?!
