President's Week

2/24/2015

0 Comments

Last week Desert Blossom preschoolers celebrated George Washington and Abraham Lincoln's birthdays! We discussed what presidents do, friends shared what they would do if they were president and we began to investigate coins and dollars. Some of our favorite quotes from our discussions were;
"Presidents are good at cleaning up."
"Presidents take care of people."
"Presidents go fishing."
"if I were president I would be the police."
"If I were president I would make hearts for people."
Kiddos made Abraham Lincoln and George Washington masks, constructed their own American flags, explored coins by making coin rubbings and designed new versions of the dollar bill with their own face in the center! We experimented with the best way to clean a dirty penny. Which do you think worked best; water, soap and water or vinegar and salt? We sure ended up with some shiny pennies! Friends had a blast in the outdoor space playing with crepe paper in the breeze and building "boobie traps" with loose parts that they collected around the yard. Each week these little people amaze us more and more! What fun!
